Teeth Whitening
Sometimes professional teeth whitening is all it takes to restore your mouth and give your pearly whites back their original luster. Teeth can become discolored for a number of reasons.
Some of the most common culprits are:
- Staining foods and drinks such as red wine, coffee, tea, berries, chocolate, and curry
- Smoking
- Medications, including the antibiotic tetracycline
Staining is also a natural part of the aging process, and genetics plays a considerable role in how fast yellowing occurs and how much yellowing you can expect.
Dr. Jackson is pleased to offer whitening services to our patients. Our take-home whitening system is completely customized to meet your needs and extremely convenient. We make custom trays that are designed to fit your teeth perfectly. All you have to do is insert the gel into the tray and then wear the trays as directed for the recommended amount of time to get the level of whitening that you desire. You get to keep the trays and gel so you can do touch-ups to maintain your smile.
While over-the-counter whitening kits are popular, we have found that they simply can’t give you the results that professional kits can – for a variety of reasons. For one thing, these kits are designed to be “one size fits all”… but do you know anybody else with a smile exactly like yours? Secondly, before you start your whitening process, we’ll clean your teeth to make sure that your results aren’t marred by traces of plaque or tartar on your teeth. Finally, the ingredients in over-the-counter kits aren’t as powerful as the product you will receive from us. This means that you will have to use the product for a much longer time and cannot expect the same results.
